High-rise living in the making over Sunset Boulevard
After being stripped down to its steel and concrete skeleton, the former Metropolitan Water District office building just east of Echo Park in Victor Heights is currently in a see-through state as it is being transformed into more than 90 apartments. Renderings on the website of developer Linear City, which has been involved in several downtown loft projects, show a new facade of glass and light-colored materials for the seven-story building designed by architect William Pereira. After being vacant for more than 20 years, Linear City expects the project, which is called 1111 Sunset, to be completed by February of next year. The developer did not return emails seeking further information.
In addition to 92 apartments, plans include a ground floor cafe, which means that Victor Heights will see its first new restaurant in decades since the opening of the Eastside Market Italian Deli.
